Consumer
engineered for products people actually use.
GLC supports organisations developing consumer electronics products where user experience, connectivity, power efficiency, embedded reliability, and speed of delivery all need to come together within commercially demanding environments.
Our experience includes embedded software development for connected and feature-rich consumer devices, particularly where products must combine low-power operation, robust wireless behaviour, platform reuse, and seamless integration with wider technology ecosystems. This includes software development in C for Bluetooth audio and accessory platforms, feature integration across shared embedded baselines, debugging and optimisation of established product software, and practical support for products moving towards customer release.
We are particularly effective in programmes where consumer devices must move quickly from platform capability to product-ready execution, and where engineering teams need dependable technical support across implementation, interoperability, troubleshooting, and controlled release activities. We tend to add the most value in delivery environments that benefit from experienced engineering ownership, calm cross-team collaboration, and a clear focus on what makes products commercially ready.

Case study: embedded software for connected audio and voice-enabled consumer devices
-
GLC supported a major client on-site in Cambridge, UK across consumer electronics software programmes, serving customers developing headphones, earphones, earbuds, voice-assisted speakers and related wireless audio products.
The work sat within a fast-moving commercial environment where embedded software had to support both product differentiation and platform stability.
These programmes required hands-on development close to the target hardware, together with an understanding of how consumer products are shaped not just by core embedded implementation, but also by ecosystem compatibility, low-power behaviour, feature maturity and the ability to support multiple downstream customer products from shared technology platforms.
The platforms included Qualcomm and CSR Bluetooth audio SoCs used in a wide range of consumer devices, where successful delivery depended on practical engineering contribution across feature implementation, optimisation, debugging and release support.
-
GLC contributed embedded software development in C for wireless audio and voice-assisted consumer products based on Qualcomm low-power Bluetooth SoCs, including the QCC512x, QCC514x, and QCC302x families.
A key part of the work involved implementing and troubleshooting features linked to Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, while working closely with both partner organisations to clarify requirements and resolve technical issues.
Earlier work within Qualcomm, including the former CSR environment, focused on embedded software development for the ADK platform used across a broad set of consumer products such as headsets, speakers, soundbars, hands-free devices, and remote controls.
This included experience with CSR8675, CSR8670, and ROM-based solutions, alongside substantial involvement in optimisation activities across both legacy and newer platforms.
GLC also contributed to the development and maturation of new low-power SoC platforms, including Crescendo and Aura, and supported implementation of product-facing features such as TWS, HID, and iAP2.
Alongside feature work, the role included maintaining and debugging existing application software, supporting testing activities, contributing to CI-controlled delivery practices, and assisting with code integration and release preparation in Perforce-managed development environments.
-
GLC provided hands-on embedded software expertise across multiple consumer electronics programmes, supporting the development of connected audio and voice-enabled products within demanding delivery schedules.
The work strengthened feature delivery across shared embedded platforms, improved coordination between software and testing activities, and helped resolve integration issues involving major technology partners.
By combining practical implementation with debugging, optimisation, and release-focused engineering support, GLC contributed to more predictable progress towards stable, customer-ready consumer products.
